Ah, that summer garden I nursed and spent so much time on all spring only to leave it with reckless abandon to the care of my overworked husband when I went out-of-town for two months….
Not one tomato. Not one black bean.
We did harvest amazing carrots and lettuce.
He didn’t catch the spinach in time though it was beautiful when I left.
Not one green pepper.
Spaghetti squash turned out wonderfully.
A couple cucumbers.
No summer squash.
No zucchini.
So, it wasn’t a very fruitful harvest in Wisconsin for us. The summer was extremely cool and my husband extremely overworked. He left at dark: thirty and arrived home at dark: thirty and said searching for hiding vegetables with a flashlight simply wasn’t worth it.
If only I’d been home, but he was the one eating them so…..this year it will be different.
Geez. I say that every year.
No, but seriously. This year it will.
Seriously.
