I bought liquid smoke almost a year ago for a recipe and then couldn’t find the recipe. Me and my organization skills. This week however, I found another recipe calling for liquid smoke. And lo and behold, if it isn’t for my husband’s favorite meal. BBQ beef on buns!
What to use:
3 pounds chuck roast
1 and 1/2 cup Heinz catsup
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/8 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
How to make it:
1. Trim some of the fat off the chuck roast and place roast in crock pot.
2. Mix all ingredients together and pour over roast.
3. Cook overnight for 8 HOURS on LOW.
4. Using two forks, pull roast apart until it looks shredded, being sure to mix all sauce in with meat until meat is juicy.
5. Serve on buns with a side of baked beans.
End Result: Went too quick for even a photo! I thought in general it was a little sweet, but I did like this version. And so did everyone else apparently, because it’s gone!
I wish Id read this earlier – I have a beef roast in the crockpot today too, but lacking inspiration, I just browned it and put it in on top of some browned onions, mushrooms and garlic. I really could have gone for some bbq’d beef sandwiches instead!
Oh but yours sounds so good! I’m going to have to try your version next time! Cheers and Happy New Year Miss Heidi!
This looks great, too. One thing about liquid smoke is it keeps forever, years, really. Just make sure to clean off the top before you cap it or sometimes it sticks and you can’t get it off…
I use a few drops in 15 bean soup sometimes.
Will try this in the 15 bean soup Frugal Hausfrau. You don’t have a recipe for that by any chance do you?
