The turnips are jumping out of their spots yelling, “Pick me! Pick me!”
I tell them, “Hold on, what is this? kinderGARDEN?” (Get it?)
I’m leaning toward making mashed turnips, similar to mashed potatoes with them this weekend…I hope. I’ll probably cook them in the crock pot, since they’ll take a while to cook until tender. Whatever I do, I’d better do it fast. These puppies are pushing right out of the ground! They want out and to be eaten–NOW.
And at the community garden yesterday I ran into the nicest 81-year-old man looking for an empty plot. He handed me two heads of fresh broccoli and an “experiment.” Let’s see what I can do with these things!
I shall post it!
P.S. Those crazy red radishes…I never could figure out what to do with. They sat in the fridge and went soft. I should have researched more, huh? Next year, I’ll know better. I spotted another gardener growing them. I’ll have to find out what they are from him! I’ll let you know!

Are japanese radishes and horse radish the same thing?
You know, I don’t know. I had no idea there were so many radish varieties until I started this crazy garden! Good question. I’ll have to find out.
Thanks for the comment Donna. You know how much I just love those. And thanks for reading my stuff!
Love the Japanese Radishes. I like them raw but you can cook them, use them in teas etc. they are sold by the pound at Majers. I tried to grow them this last season but had no luck. I will try again as they are so good for you. lots of health benefits. Will try to put you a couple of recipes together to try next year.
Aunt Jackie,
What do you mean you can make tea out of them??
